21+ event with complimentary admission

Brass Union will debut a new residency music series with Somerville’s own Boston Free Radio dubbed “Monday Mixdown,” the counterpart to its outdoor “Monday Mixtape” summer music series. Each month, Brass Union will set the stage for a Boston Free Radio takeover that brings some of the city’s top deejay talents to the Brass lounge for a night of throwbacks and current chart toppers while the sets are broadcasted live on

For its launch, Boston Free Radio has tapped local favorites DJ Ole Mic Odd and HRTSTPPR for back-to-back sets featuring soul, funk, hip-hop and R&B tracks.

Boston Free Radio is an all-volunteer free-speech community radio station based out of Union Square in Somerville. Since 2011, Boston Free Radio has operated as part of SCATV with dozens of volunteer BFR producers and DJs who work hard to put together engaging, interesting and eclectic programs for the audience and community. Brass Union, an eatery and lounge founded by restaurateur Ken Kelly, opened its doors in Somerville’s Union Square in June of 2014. Housed in the space that formerly inhabited Somerville’s police headquarters, Brass Union encompasses two spaces that boast two distinct – yet synergetic – concepts. In the front restaurant and bar area, Brass Union sets the stage for a New York City-style tavern reminiscent of days of yore and in the rear space there is an interactive lounge with a vintage tabletop video game and shuffleboard tables. Brass Union dishes out a diverse menu of American dishes with global inspiration complemented by inventive craft cocktails that incorporate housemade syrups and sodas and there are 24 draft lines. Brass Union is located at 70 Union Square in Somerville. For more information, please call (617) 623-9211 or visit Follow Brass Union on Facebook and Twitter.
