“Bold as Brass” New Year’s Eve
70 Union Square, Somerville
Beginning at 9:00pm
$25 per person
Brass Union will celebrate New Year’s Eve in Union Square this year with one last soiree laced with bites, bubbles and beats. At the “Bold as Brass” bash, guests are invited to dress to impress and will be treated to passed hors d’oeuvres during the 2016 portion of the evening followed by a midnight champagne toast and late-night treats into the wee hours of 2017. Brass resident spin-master DJ ABD will be on the turntables all night spinning funk, soul and classic party jams and revelers will be given party favors for the celebration.
Cask ‘n Flagon
62 Brookline Avenue, Boston
Beginning at 8:00pm
Admission: $45 in advance (must enter by 10pm or subject to capacity restrictions);
Cask ‘n Flagon will be welcoming the New Year in the heart of Fenway with a Great Gatsby-themed bash. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best Roaring Twenties apparel as Cask travels back to the Golden Age and flapper girls and dapper gentlemen party like it’s 1926. Before the ball drops, DJ Carl Stenzel will take to the turntables spinning top 40 tracks to create one last dance party on Lansdowne Street. On Cask ‘n Flagon’s more than 60 HDTVs, the scene from Times Square will be streamed as champagne bottles are popped for the midnight toast. When the clock strikes 12, “cheers” to the New Year and make some noise with complimentary party favors.
City Tap House
10 Boston Wharf Road, Boston
Beginning at 5pm. Complimentary admission.
City Tap House will softly open its door in Fort Point on New Year’s Eve. This elevated American pub experience is the ideal destination for those looking for a “no frills” New Year’s Eve celebration complete with great beer, even better food and playoff games screened on 11 HDTVs, including three mammoth 80-inch screens that frame the bar’s long line of 60 taps. Devoid of the customary inflated cover charge or prix fixe lineup, City Tap House will offer their a la carte menu and will activate a pop-up Champagne Bar for the evening. With the purchase of a bottle of bubbles ($35-200), revelers can get creative by customizing it with a variety of treats including candy, mint leaves, lemon peels, sugar cubes, fresh fruit, cotton candy, flavored bitters and syrups as well as fresh juices.
Sister restaurants Foundry on Elm and Saloon will celebrate New Year’s Eve in Davis Square by featuring a series of dinner specials followed by dancing the night away with sounds by two of Boston’s top deejay talents. For supper, executive chef Shayne Nunes has designed four specials that are available in addition to the regular menus at both Foundry and Saloon. For entrees, there is Pan Roasted Diver Scallops with crispy pork belly, Brussels sprouts, acorn squash puree and a pomegranate pork jus ($32) and a tender Grilled Filet Mignon with roasted garlic whipped potatoes, asparagus, crispy shallots and a truffle bordelaise ($39). To close out the year with one last bit of indulgence, there is a duo of desserts: Flourless Chocolate Cake with peanut butter mousse, candied peanuts and dark chocolate sauce ($8) and a Blood Orange Tart with coconut whipped cream and candied orange zest ($8). The final party of 2016 will start at 10pm at both venues with DJ Madsol-Desar taking to the turntables at Foundry on Elm and DJ Axel Foley manning the ones-and-twos downstairs at Saloon. Whether you’re happily kissing a sour year goodbye or looking back on the past 365 days with tears of joy, Foundry and Saloon have your needs covered.
